The Fit’s About to Hit the Shan for ABC

The internet was buzzing yesterday with rumors that Kamala Harris may have received the ABC News debate questions in advance. Observers noted that she seemed visibly nervous at the start but quickly found her stride, especially once she realized Donald Trump was taking the bait she laid out. When Trump got sidetracked by a comment about rally sizes, it became clear that he was going off message, missing key opportunities to hit Harris hard on critical issues like inflation, immigration, and the fact that Americans are struggling more financially than they were four years ago.

Harris, on the other hand, appeared unusually prepared for the questions. Despite that, her responses often felt like typical political “word salads,” where she danced around the point without really answering anything. Moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis were quick to fact-check Trump live, unsurprisingly. However, when it came to Harris and her own string of dubious claims, there was radio silence. Now, rumors are swirling that an ABC whistleblower has alleged Harris not only had access to the questions beforehand but was also promised immunity from any on-stage fact-checking. While these claims remain unverified, if proven true, it could turn into a significant scandal.

This isn’t the first time Democrats have been accused of rigging debates. Back in 2016, Hillary Clinton’s campaign received debate questions in advance from CNN contributor Donna Brazile. She was promptly fired for her actions, but the incident still left a bad taste in the mouths of many voters. Fast forward to the current debate, and some see echoes of the same tactic. Even the *LA Times* has admitted that Muir and Davis acted as if their main goal was to prevent a Biden-style meltdown from Harris.

Overall, the debate was widely viewed as a disaster. The bias of the moderators was obvious, and even with the deck seemingly stacked in her favor, Harris didn’t manage to pull off a victory. Her numbers remain flat, which says a lot about how poorly the debate went for her. Meanwhile, critics are starting to speak out. One former Clinton pollster, while not focusing on the advance questions issue, has expressed disappointment with the debate for other reasons, which will soon be addressed.

In the end, whether or not the allegations about Harris getting the questions in advance are true, the debate felt more like a media-assisted show than a genuine political discussion. The American people deserve better than this repeated pattern of media bias propping up candidates who can’t hold their own without help.
