Photo: Tim Walz’s Family Members Support Trump

The drama surrounding Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s family just took another interesting twist, and let’s just say it’s not looking great for the Harris-Walz ticket. A family photo was first shared by a friend of the Walz family with a representative of former Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles W. Herbster, who wasted no time posting it on X (formerly known as Twitter). The image features some of Walz’s relatives, and Herbster’s team confirmed they are indeed connected to the governor through his grandfather’s brother. The message? Even Walz’s own family isn’t too thrilled about his political ambitions.

Herbster captioned the post with, “Tim Walz’s family back in Nebraska wants you to know something…” and, of course, it immediately went viral, especially among the MAGA crowd. Conservatives quickly seized on the opportunity, suggesting that if his own relatives aren’t on board with his candidacy, maybe the rest of the country should think twice before voting for a Harris-Walz ticket. It’s not every day you see family opposition being used as political ammunition, but here we are.

Naturally, the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz campaign has been radio silent, offering no response to the Daily Mail’s request for comment on the viral photo or the increasing number of Walz family members who are jumping on the Trump train. It’s never a good sign when relatives are coming out of the woodwork to back the other side—especially when it’s your brother.

Speaking of brothers, Jeff Walz, the governor’s older sibling, recently made waves when he took to Facebook to warn people about his younger brother. Jeff, now 67 and living in Florida, didn’t hold back when he posted, “I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology.” Ouch. That’s got to sting. And while Jeff now claims he wasn’t trying to sway voters, the damage may already be done.

Jeff told NewsNation that his social media rant wasn’t intended to influence the public, but more of a clarification for friends who might’ve thought he was aligned with his brother’s political beliefs. Apparently, after hearing from old friends and acquaintances, Jeff felt the need to set the record straight. He wanted to make sure people knew that he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Tim on the issues, which, considering the current political climate, speaks volumes.

As if the situation wasn’t awkward enough, Jeff was encouraged by fellow Facebook users to throw his weight behind Trump and make his voice heard during what they called a “pivotal moment in history.” While Jeff admitted he’s been thinking about it, he’s also torn about dragging his family further into the spotlight. He added that he could “tell stories” about his brother but seemed hesitant to air more dirty laundry. Oh, and did we mention that it’s been eight years since the brothers last spoke? Yeah, Thanksgiving at the Walz household probably won’t be happening anytime soon.
