Pelosi Fact-Checked…by WashPo for Immigration Lies

Nancy Pelosi is finding herself in hot water yet again, this time drawing fire from both sides of the aisle—and even from the hosts of The View. Ana Navarro, not known for shying away from a dramatic critique, went as far as calling Pelosi “nasty” for shifting blame onto President Joe Biden for Donald Trump’s decisive 2024 election victory. It seems the former House Speaker has mastered the art of dodging accountability, but not everyone’s buying it this time.

Pelosi made waves in a recent interview with The New York Times, where she claimed that fewer migrants entered the U.S. under Biden than during Trump’s first term. This bold assertion earned her a swift and pointed fact-check from The Washington Post, which stated it’s “documented fact” that at least four times as many migrants entered the country during Biden’s administration. Oops. Pelosi’s camp later scrambled to clarify, insisting she was talking about deportations, not entries—a convenient pivot that didn’t hold much water, as The Post pointed out. In its scathing analysis, the outlet awarded Pelosi’s claim the dreaded “Four Pinocchios,” signaling a whopper of a falsehood.

The numbers don’t lie, and neither do the headlines: Biden’s deportation figures, even at their peak, pale in comparison to Trump’s. Yet Pelosi seemed content to roll out a convoluted narrative, as if enough spin could turn political disaster into a win. According to The Washington Post, her argument only unraveled further under scrutiny. If Pelosi’s version of clarity is what Democrats are banking on, it’s no wonder the GOP swept back into power with ease.

But Pelosi’s missteps didn’t stop at immigration. During the same interview, she speculated that Kamala Harris might have had a stronger showing if Biden had exited the race earlier. The implication? Biden stayed in too long and dragged the party down, leaving Harris to inherit a sinking ship. It’s a particularly bold take, considering Pelosi herself was instrumental in Biden stepping aside, a fact not lost on critics. MSNBC’s Symone Sanders Townsend delivered a blistering critique, essentially accusing Pelosi of orchestrating Biden’s “public demise.” Townsend even questioned Pelosi’s vaunted strategic acumen, sarcastically asking, “Where is your calculator now?”

Pelosi’s penchant for backroom politicking and revisionist history seems to have run its course. As Democrats grapple with their election loss and the fallout of their fractured messaging, the knives are coming out—and Pelosi, once untouchable in her party, is finding herself squarely in the line of fire. For Republicans, this spectacle of Democratic infighting is the gift that keeps on giving. With Trump preparing to re-enter the Oval Office, Pelosi’s stumbles serve as a stark reminder of how the Left’s muddled leadership paved the way for the GOP’s return to dominance.
