James Carville on 2024: “I’m scared to death.”

Former Clinton lapdog and die-hard Democrat, James Carville, is finally admitting what a lot of folks have been thinking: he’s “scared to death” of the 2024 election, especially with Donald Trump looming large and ready to take back the White House. Carville, in his usual doom-and-gloom style, made his confession on MSNBC, where he practically begged the Harris-Walz campaign to stop coasting and start fighting. It’s almost as if the Dems are starting to realize their golden ticket might not be as shiny as they thought.

Carville went on about how the campaign needs to get “much more aggressive,” though at this point, it’s starting to sound like desperation. He made it clear that they don’t have much time left, and the clock is ticking faster than they’d like to admit. In typical fashion, he expressed his fears, saying he’s not in a “reflective mood”—because who has time for reflection when you’re about to lose everything?

With just weeks left before the big day, Carville stressed that time is slipping away. According to him, the campaign doesn’t even have a full month to get their act together, warning that they’ve got 26 days, but some of those will be eaten up by natural disasters like hurricanes. And let’s face it, Carville seems to think they’ll be twiddling their thumbs for at least four of those days. It’s the kind of frantic countdown you’d expect from someone who’s seen this movie before and doesn’t like how it ends.

He didn’t hold back, either. Carville laid out the cold, hard truth: after the Saturday before the election, everything grinds to a halt. He’s basically saying they have less than 20 days to actually make something happen. If that’s not a panic button moment, I don’t know what is. His advice? Stop being passive, stop answering questions, and start asking some hard ones. Too bad the Harris-Walz campaign seems to be stuck in neutral while Trump barrels down the highway.

As if Carville’s frantic warnings weren’t enough, it’s not looking great for the Democrats elsewhere either. Trump has surged ahead with a near-double-digit lead on betting platforms like Polymarket, marking his strongest showing since Harris took over for Biden on the 2024 ticket. And to make matters worse for the Dems, even some of their own, like author M.C. Armstrong, are jumping ship, calling it a “career suicide note” as they wave goodbye to the party. Looks like Carville has every reason to be shaking in his boots.
