Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton couldn’t resist making another appearance on MSNBC’s favorite echo chamber, Rachel Maddow’s show, to weigh in on the 2024 election. Because apparently, there’s no better time to go after Donald Trump than right after an assassination attempt on him. With the subtlety of a hammer, Clinton used the opportunity to call Trump a danger to the country, as if the guy hadn’t just dodged bullets—literally.
“The press needs to create a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is,” Clinton proclaimed, because you know, we need the media to be even more biased. According to her, Trump isn’t just a danger to the U.S., but apparently to the entire world. Sure, Hillary, because the man who spends his weekends golfing is clearly a global menace.
Not one to let go of old grudges, Clinton dusted off her favorite “Russian interference” playbook from 2016. She threw out the idea that not only were Russians helping Trump back then, but now she’s hinting that maybe Americans should face civil or criminal charges for engaging in what she deems as “propaganda.” So much for free speech, right? If you disagree with Clinton, apparently, you might need a lawyer.
In a classic Clinton move, she doubled down on accusing Trump of “throwing red meat” to rile up his supporters—because surely it’s Trump’s rhetoric, not the fact that someone just tried to shoot him, that’s the real problem here. Instead of addressing the seriousness of the situation, she’s still harping on how he’s a threat to democracy. The irony is just too rich.
Clinton couldn’t help but label Trump a “durable” political figure, which, in her world, is code for someone who refuses to be canceled despite all her best efforts. According to her, Trump “keeps people agitated” and is a master of playing on fears and insecurities. Funny, coming from someone who seems to do little else but stir the pot of fear when it comes to Trump.
Meanwhile, the very real attempt on Trump’s life by Ryan Wesley Routh, who was caught armed at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course, seems to be just a footnote in the broader narrative. Despite the second assassination attempt, Democrat Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw decided Trump doesn’t need full Secret Service protection because, well, he’s not a sitting president. I guess dodging gunfire isn’t enough to warrant top-level security these days—at least not in the eyes of certain officials.
