Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently made bold claims that former President Donald Trump would imprison his political enemies, including herself, if he regains the White House in November. During an appearance on journalist Kara Swisher’s podcast, On with Kara Swisher, Ocasio-Cortez expressed her concerns about Trump’s potential actions.
“I mean, it sounds nuts, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy threw me in jail,” she stated. “He’s out of his mind. I mean, he did his whole first campaign around ‘lock her up.’ This is his motto.” She added that she is vigorously supporting Joe Biden’s re-election campaign to avoid such a scenario.
Ocasio-Cortez continued, “I take him at his word when he says that he’s going to round up people. I take him at his word when he threatens journalists. I take him at his word.” She warned that Trump’s previous term was only a preview of what he might do if re-elected, emphasizing that he has learned from his past mistakes and will not appoint professionals who might restrain his actions.
She expressed deep concerns about the potential impact of a Trump victory, stating, “It is unequivocal that if Donald Trump wins, we are looking at the potential dissolution of democracy in the United States of America. The question about what would happen to me or the Democratic Party is a joke compared to what is going to happen to our country.”
AOC’s remarks come on the heels of Michael Cohen’s recent comments, where he suggested that under a Trump administration, “people will start flying out of windows.” During an edition of MSNBC’s “Velshi,” Cohen likened the situation to state-sponsored news in Russia and warned that Trump would suppress any negative information about him, even resorting to extreme measures against dissenters.
In sum, Ocasio-Cortez’s statements underscore the intense fear and opposition she and other Democrats have towards a potential second term for Trump, highlighting the stakes they believe are involved in the upcoming election.
