Kamala Harris’s latest appearance on CBS News was, in typical fashion, a complete disaster. Honestly, at this point, it’s not even surprising. This is the same person who managed to fumble her way through a softball interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, so sitting down with a seasoned journalist like Bill Whitaker was always going to be a train wreck. Democrats knew this about Kamala long before Biden’s mental faculties started to visibly deteriorate last summer. She’s been an absolute liability in any solo interview, and once again, she delivered the goods—just not in the way her team was hoping.
One of her biggest flubs, and there were many, came when Whitaker asked her how she planned to pay for her domestic agenda. It’s a pretty basic question for any politician, but apparently, it was too much for Kamala. Her response was a non-answer, leaving everyone scratching their heads. It’s as if she thought she could just wave away real questions with some vague statements about traveling a lot and pushing forward. Spoiler alert: she can’t.
And then, there was the immigration debacle. Whitaker gave her three chances—three!—to answer a straightforward question about the administration’s border policies. Did she take responsibility? Of course not. She stuck to her rehearsed talking points about how border crossings are supposedly down. Even if they were (which they’re not), the damage is done. The Biden-Harris administration has allowed millions of people to flood the country, including dangerous criminals. But Kamala wants you to believe everything’s under control. Right.
Meanwhile, Trump wouldn’t even give CBS the time of day unless they apologized for Leslie Stahl’s baseless dismissal of the Hunter Biden laptop story. Yet NBC tries to spin this as if Kamala bravely faced tough questions while Trump somehow chickened out. It’s almost laughable. Trump has been going toe-to-toe with a hostile media for years, and he’s not about to back down now. But Harris? She crumbles under even mild pressure.
For weeks, Harris has dodged the tough questions, opting for friendly outlets where she wouldn’t be challenged. So when she finally sat down for this interview with CBS, it was clear she wasn’t prepared for the kind of grilling Whitaker gave her. He tried multiple times to get her to admit the administration’s border policies were a mistake, but she just couldn’t bring herself to do it. Instead, she deflected, claiming they’ve been working on solutions since day one. Here’s the problem: you’ve been in office for over three years, Kamala. Whatever issues exist at the border are because you and Biden let them happen.
At the end of the day, Harris’s lack of preparedness and depth is glaring. Whether it’s dodging questions on immigration or failing to explain how she’ll fund her agenda, it’s clear why she never gained traction on her own in 2020. Every time she speaks, she only confirms the public’s worst suspicions—that she’s just not equipped for the job. And while her team keeps trying to polish the narrative, Kamala just keeps tripping over herself, proving once again why she’s a liability for the Democrats.
